536 AD — The Year the Sun Died

When volcanic eruptions blocked the sun, temperatures crashed, crops failed, and civilizations suffered. This design commemorates one of the darkest years in human history while connecting it to the ongoing crisis of climate change and air pollution.

The bold “536” with “AD CLIMATE CHANGE” and “AIR POLLUTION KILLS” sits beneath a pale, dying sun, surrounded by other major volcanic climate events: 44 BC Okmok, 940 Eldgjá, 1258 Samalas, 1600 Huaynaputina and 1816 Tambora.
